I have just came across this little beauty: big mac

One McD’s Big Mac contains 704 calories, and more than 40 grams of carbohydrates.

That’s similar to:

  • 160 medium strawberries
  • OR 6 medium bananas
  • OR 2 pints of plain Greek yogurt
  • OR 450g of grilled chicken breast
  • OR 18 cups of broccoli
  • OR 7 and 1/2 cups of blueberries
  • OR 170g of grilled chicken (150 cals), and 3 cups of broccoli (90 cals), and 1 medium banana (110 cals), and 225g of plain Greek yogurt (130 cals), and 20 medium strawberries (80 cals), and 1 cup of blueberries (80 cals), and 1 cup of coffee with full-fat cream & stevia/sweetener, no sugar (60 cals)

That last one is a LOT of food, and is a gazillion times better for you nutritionally than a Big Mac (for the same amount of calories).

Very simply, people don’t have to starve themselves to lose fat and get lean – but unfortunately a lot of people aren’t educated enough to be making the right choices 😦

And I guess for a lot of people in this current economic climate are feeling the pinch with rising living costs anyway so making healthier food choices can seem more expensive – it’s just a shame that long term healthy benefits aren’t factored into the initial cost of food decisions!
